Choosing Nicole and Alisha to join me in my second pregnancy/home birth journey was without hesitation and when you meet them, you’ll see what I mean. These two so obviously love what they do and effortlessly pour themselves into the very special career they’ve chosen for themselves. 

It’s rare you meet people that are so interested in general and willing to experience others’ viewpoints and opinions, but here are two of them, and they excel at it.

They equally possess the knowing, motherly certainty that only comes from both care and experience which calms the nerves and eases the mind of an expectant mother, something that not all providers can impart. 

If you do have the opportunity to include them in your birth, you will be taken care of to the highest possible standard and experience just how magical growing and birthing a child is through your own eyes and theirs.

Our family could not have asked for better care during our pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. Alisha and Nicole provided the most magnificent support and encouragement as we journeyed to becoming new parents. As a plus sized woman, I have often been told by healthcare providers that something is wrong with my body and I came into pregnancy anxious about my ability to safely grow and birth a baby. I was recommended to Flourish by a close friend who is also a midwife. I immediately felt comfortable with Nicole and Alisha. Throughout my pregnancy they provided not only unparalleled care, but a holding of sacred space. I felt seen, heard and empowered throughout the entire journey as did my husband. During many parts of our appointments, it felt like we were having tea with old friends by a fire in a cozy living room. Simultaneously, I had every confidence in their medical prowess. 

As a Naturopath & Acupuncturist (& former doula), I have spent a lot of time around birth workers and birthing folx. Our experience with Flourish left us so uplifted. During my home birth I was very surprised by the intensity of the pain, and I never had any doubt that I could bring my baby safely into this world. A huge part of this confidence, was having the incredible support of these midwives. They guided me when I needed guidance, held me when I needed holding, and gave me space when I needed to be alone. Their work was so seamlessly beautiful, powerful and encouraging.

Once baby was here, we fell even harder for these women. They showed up at our home to care for me and our daughter, made us feel so safe in both our joy and tears, and even took gorgeous professional quality pictures of us as a family which we treasure. The closeness I have with these women to this day (my daughter is now 1.5yo) remains and continues to grow. They are now my women's health care specialists. As a labor and delivery nurse, I knew that I needed a midwifery team who could honor both the science and the spirit of birth. As a woman, I was looking for midwives that would hold me in my vision of birth. Alisha and Nicole met us in each moment of our pregnancy, labor and birth with grace and skill. Nicole and Alisha provide the kind of care everyone deserves, but is so hard to find. I felt holistically cared for throughout pregnancy and postpartum and empowered with information each step of the way. I never felt pressured to follow a protocol, and I appreciated both Nicole’s and Alisha’s calm and nuanced approach to supporting my decision-making during pregnancy and childbirth. Although I transferred to the hospital where I ultimately gave birth to my baby, Nicole and Alisha stayed with me the entire time and facilitated a beautiful, friendly team approach with the on-call hospital CNM. Perhaps sweetest of all was the in-home postpartum care they provided. I am so grateful for Alisha & Nicole. During prenatal and postpartum visits I always felt supported both physically and emotionally. I couldn't have asked for a better team to have by my side during labor and delivery. I felt so safe and supported throughout the entire process. It was such a beautiful experience and if we decide to have another baby we will definitely have another home birth with Alisha and Nicole.
